An Empowering Approach to Counseling
in Asheville, North Carolina
I hold the belief that all human beings are striving to do the best they can as they navigate through life’s many challenges, joys and perils. I see my role as therapist as helping clients identify their true needs and desires, clarify their goals, transcend ways of being that are not serving them, and come into a stronger awareness of themselves and the world around them.
I can assist with:
Depression, grief and loss
Substance abuse and addiction
Trauma and psychological abuse
Self-esteem, personal and spiritual growth
Stress and anxiety
Couples and relationship issues
Emotional process and communication skills
I am a licensed professional counselor with the state of North Carolina and hold a masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University (Boulder, CO). I am also a graduate, and now a faculty member, of the Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute (Asheville, NC).
My approach to counseling focuses on empowering individuals, couples, and groups and is rooted in the fields of Humanistic and Transpersonal psychotherapy as well as the emerging field of Ecopsychology. Sessions are tailored to the unique needs, wants and desires of each individual client or couple and typically take place in a conventional office setting in Asheville, North Carolina. Wilderness therapy sessions may be used as an adjunct to more traditional therapy or as the main therapeutic focus itself. Such sessions generally take place throughout Western North Carolina.
